This week, we prepare our hearts to celebrate Christ’s death and resurrection on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We, at Faith Bible Church, want to be intentional about drawing close to God and seeking Him during this season and this week. Join us as we pray together.
Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
By MK Jauchen - As we consider this week, the death and resurrection of Jesus, we marvel in the great work that Christ did for us. His work saved us and changed us. We look to Jesus as our Savior but also today, we look to him as our model, our pioneer, as we run “the race marked out for us.” Christ not only died for us, but in His perfect life on earth, He lived for us. He demonstrated perfectly what it means to be truly human. He showed us how to persevere in the midst of trials. He showed us how to resist temptation. And in His death, He showed us how to keep our eyes focused on the joy set before us and endure the cross that we bear in this life. Christ, Himself, is our joy. And it is a life lived with Him that enables us to persevere as we live in this broken world.
- What trials or temptations are you facing today? Pray that God would give you the perseverance to endure these struggles. Ask Him to help you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and the joy that He brings.
- How can you share the joy of Christ with someone today? Ask God to bring someone into your life today (to your work, to your home, or as you are out and about) who needs to hear the gospel of Jesus.
