Isaiah 42:1 (NIV) Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations.
From Karen Hall - During Lent, we consider Jesus and His sacrifice and realize that our only hope is in Him. His death and resurrection allow us to benefit from God’s mercy rather than experience justice. The Son who is gentle and will encourage the fainthearted and despairing (Isaiah 42:3), the One who is the Father’s delight – He will be the one who executes justice to the whole world. Truth and righteousness will prevail (Isaiah 42:4) in our personal lives because of His death and resurrection and in the whole world because of His death and resurrection.
This week, as you watch the news or are feeling fainthearted, remember with Whom your hope lies. As you anticipate worshiping on Good Friday and Easter, pray that God will give you an opportunity to share your hope with a neighbor or co-worker. Just like God holds up His Son & says “see…my delight”, share your delight in Jesus, your savior with someone you know.
- Spend some time today thinking about your hope in Jesus. Why do you hope in Him? Praise Him for the hope you have in Him and ask Him to use this week to draw you closer to Him.
- Consider the Father’s delight in Jesus. Is there someone today that you can share your delight of Christ with? A co-worker, a friend, a family member? Pray about how God might be calling you to share the gospel with those people in your life who don’t know Him.
