Man’s steps are ordained by the Lord.  Proverbs 20:24

The LORD will alter them if He chooses, and He will use them for Himself, if He chooses not to alter them. Either way, He is the Potter, and you are the clay. Chew on the thoughts below to get you in tune with who is really in control of and involved in every detail in our lives.

-  The LORD Jehovah rules over all! He created us for His own pleasure (Pr.16:4)

-  He governs it all for His own pleasure (Eph. 1:11)

-  His rule includes chance events and movements of sparrows (Proverbs 16:33)

-  He knows the end from the beginning, and you do not even know tomorrow (Proverbs 27:1)

Even our choices are a part of God’s plan for our life. We want to think we are the ones who determine every decision that we make. But the Bible says, “Man’s steps are ordained by the Lord” (Pr. 20:24) Every step we take, down to the most minute detail, is all a part of God’s plan. Reminds me of one of my favorite kid’s songs. “Every move I make I make in you…”

Pharaoh, his parents, and Egypt thought he was a great success. His whole life had been constant progress to the throne. He was rich, strong, and victorious. He ruled the greatest nation on earth. But his existence and position were simply for the LORD to show His power and to honor Himself by crushing him (Ex 9:16)

The King of Assyria thought he was the greatest king alive, and his great and many military conquests seemed to confirm his confidence (Is 10:8-11). But God had simply used him like a rod to chasten Israel (Is.19:5-15).

Our choices are all part of God’s plan. In God’s book, He has already written every day that you will live (Ps. 139.16). The day of your birth and the day of your death are written in God’s book. Nobody comes into this world one second before God’s plan or leaves this world one second after God’s plan. Our lifespan is a part of God’s plan. So you might start this day with , “Can’t wait to see your plan today.

2 Kings 22:1  aJosiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of bBozkath. 2And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in all the way of David his father, and he did not turn aside to the right or to the left.

In reading the biblical lists of kings, it is rare to find one who obeyed God completely. Josiah was such a person, and he was only eight years old when he began to reign. For 18 years Josiah reigned obediently; then, when he was 26, he began the reforms based on God’s laws. Children are the future leaders of our churches and our world. A person’s major work for God may have to wait until he or she is an adult, but no one is ever too young to take God seriously and obey him. Josiah’s early years laid the base for his later task of reforming Judah. God can use you, regardless of your age.

This week at VBS we had 109 children respond to the challenge of the gospel and walk to the back of the auditorium to talk with a counselor when God’s Word was shared. Keep reading to the end of 2 Kings 23, and you will see a picture of a how God’s Word changed this young king and a corrected a nation.
