inviting everyone to grow together in our love for jesus
At Faith Bible Church, we are a family that invites everyone to grow together in our love for Jesus: those who don’t know Jesus yet to come to faith in the gospel, and those who already have a walk with Christ to grow deeper in their love for Him. We invite everyone with the intention to work and grow in our relationship with Jesus, together in community, which, in turn, will grow us in our love for one another. These things will lead us toward the goal of our spiritual maturity, Christlikeness, and toward the building up of the family of God.
We believe the Scriptures identify four rhythms or habits for us to grow in our love for Jesus:
We believe the Scriptures identify four rhythms or habits for us to grow in our love for Jesus:
TALK with the lord in a lifestyle of prayer
Our lives are to be marked by prayer without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17), and prayer is something we are to be devoted to (Col 4:2). Apart from Jesus, we can do nothing (John 15:5), and so,
we must learn to communicate with Him regularly.
we must learn to communicate with Him regularly.
LISTEN TO THE WORD OF GOD AND THE GOD OF THE WORD
God reveals His will to us through the Scriptures and through the Holy Spirit. His inspired, inerrant word is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). He never guides us in ways that are contrary to His word, but He may guide us in ways other than His word: He may speak to us through others (Colossians 3:16), through our circumstances (Acts 16:6-7, Romans 1:10-13), or through the prompting of the Holy Spirit (John 16:13, Galatians 5:16-18). We must learn to listen for His voice as we rely on Him and to obey what He has revealed to us (James 4:17).
DO GOD'S WORK IN THE POWER OF HIS SPIRIT
God’s blessing comes from doing His word, and not from merely hearing or knowing it (James 1:25). We are to be doing the works God has prepared beforehand for us to do (Ephesians 2:10), and to be striving according to His power that works mightily within us (Colossians 1:29, Ephesians 1:19). Since loving Jesus involves obedience to His commands (John 14:21, 23), growing in our love for Jesus also involves growing in our love for obedience to His word.
share your experience of god's love
Jesus showed the greatest love possible when He gave His life for us on Calvary (John 15:13). His selfless love has now been poured out within our hearts through the gift of the Holy Spirit (Rom 5:5). Having an experience of God’s love for us compels us to love others (2 Corinthians 5:14-15, 1 John 4:9-12) and is a testimony to everyone that we are Jesus’ disciples (John 13:35). God’s love for the world motivated Jesus in His life and in His death, and this motivates us to share the story of His love with others, too (John 3:16).
