PSALM 86: A GLIMPSE OF GOD'S CHARACTER

Psalm 86 is a call from David to God for protection, safety, mercy and joy. In David's call to God in the psalm, he provides us with a list of God's character traits and actions, that should comfort us in times of distress and trouble.

As you read through Psalm 86 today, notice the traits of God that David lists and God's actions.
- "forgiving and good, abounding in love" v.5
- "when I call to You in distress, you answer me" v.7
- "there is none like You, Lord" v.8
- "You are great and do marvelous deeds, You alone are God" v.10
- "great is Your love toward me, You have delivered me from the depths" v.13
- "You, Lord, are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in love and compassion." v.15
- "have mercy on me, show Your strength" v.16
- "You, Lord have helped me and comforted me." v.17

Whenever we may find ourselves in times of distress and trouble, call out to God as David did, and consider the character of the loving God that we serve, and take hope, comfort and strength from them.
