HEAVENLY BODIES

Genesis 5:24 "Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away."

In Noah's genealogy is Enoch, his great-grandfather. While most people were living into their 900's, Enoch was only 365 when God took him.

Only two people in the Old Testament did not experience death; Enoch and Elijah. About Elijah we read, "Suddenly a Chariot of Fire and Horses of Fire appeared...and Elijah went up to Heaven in a whirlwind." 2 Kings 2:11

The New Testament says this about Enoch, "By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death." Hebrews 11:5

Some scholars believe the two witnesses in Revelation are Enoch and Elijah because they never died.

The account of the Witnesses is as "My Two Witnesses...will prophesy for 1,260 days... If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies... They have power...to strike the earth with every kind of plague...  The beast... from the Abyss will... kill them. Their bodies will lie in the public square... The inhabitants of the earth... will celebrate... But after the three and a half days the Breath of Life from God entered them, and... and terror struck those who saw them. Then they heard a loud voice from Heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up to Heaven in a cloud." Revolution 11:3-12

Whoever the Two Witnesses will be is not known for sure, but if they are Enoch and Elijah, then no one will escape earth without dying. These bodies are not made for Eternity.

About our earthly bodies we are told: "For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an Eternal House in Heaven... Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our Heavenly Dwelling, ...so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by Life." 2 Corinthians 5:1-4

May you not take too much stock in your earthly body that will grow old, diseased, and wrinkled. Instead look forward to your Heavenly body that will be perfect!
