IS YOUR NAME IN THE BOOK?

In the closing chapter of several of Paul’s epistles (Rom. 16:1–24 and 2 Tim. 4:9–15; 19–21, for example) he includes the names of a number of people. Many of them are people he wishes to greet, or who send their greetings. In other cases, he thanks or commends them. In a few cases he warns others about them. Whether positive or negative, all these names are preserved in God’s Word—which lasts forever.

There’s another, even more important, place where names are preserved forever—the Lamb’s Book of Life (see Phil. 4:3; Rev. 3:5; 13:8; 20:12, 15; and 21:27). This is the record of the names of those who are saved, and will live forever with the Lord. Your name is written there if you have placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your savior.

The Bible makes it clear that God knows each of us intimately—better than we know ourselves—and cares for each of us. Matt. 6:25–34 is just one of many passages that speak to this. He meets our needs, the greatest of which is a personal relationship with Him.

Our names may not be listed in the final chapter of Paul’s epistles, but I trust they are listed in the Lamb’s Book of Life! My name is there; is yours?
