NO MATTER WHAT

In today’s reading of several Psalms, the first line is very significant: “It is good to give thanks to the Lоʀᴅ,”

Though there are various times throughout these Psalms in which the psalmist questions the prosperity of the wicked, even asking God where He is while evil is going on, never is the mandate to give thanks to the Lоʀᴅ followed by, “if...”
Not “...if things are going just the way you want them to go.”
Not “...if you’re healthy.”
Not “...if you’re wealthy.”
Not “...if you’re being treated the way you think you should be.”
Not “...if your relationships are all going well.”
Not “...if your job is going well.”
Not “...if…………………..”

It is good to give thanks to the Lоʀᴅ, no matter what!

Interestingly, the very last line of today’s reading gives us a bit of insight as to WHY it is good to give thanks to the Lоʀᴅ: “… And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.”
It is good to give thanks to the Lоʀᴅ, no matter what, because His name is HOLY... no matter what!
