JESUS IS THE AUTHOR OF ETERNAL SALVATION

Hebrews 5:8-10 "Though He were a son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And being made perfect He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him. Called of GOD an high priest after the order of Melchizedek"

Jesus was and is the eternal son of GOD. He is from everlasting to everlasting. Jesus took upon Himself human nature in order that He could become one of us. In order that He could perfectly live His life on earth without sin. In order that He could be a perfect lamb of GOD and die for the sins of fallen mankind.

Jesus suffered all the trials and tests that every person does. He became weary, hungry, thirsty just like every person does. He was tested in every way but was never guilty of sin. Hebrews 4:15 says, "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities but was in all points tempted like as we are yet without sin." Jesus suffered like no one else. He was rejected by the Jewish leaders. He was spit upon. He was mocked, reviled, persecuted, hated, whipped, crushed, crucified, nailed to a cross, put to death, buried in a borrowed tomb. Hebrews 5:8 says "Though He were a son yet He learned obedience by the things that He suffered." Why did He do this? He did it because of His great love for His creation. To save us from eternal death. So that we could become His children. So that we could be saved from the awesome wrath of GOD. Romans 5:8 says "But GOD exercised His love towards us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." How unsearchable is the love of GOD. It cannot be searched out.

Hebrews 5:9 says "and being made perfect He became the author of eternal salvation to all that obey Him." Salvation is a free gift to all that will receive it. Once we have been forgiven we are a child of GOD. He gives us eternal salvation. It is the free gift of eternal life. Ephesians 2:8-9 says "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of GOD not of works lest any man should boast." Let's all just pause and say thank you Lord Jesus for your free gift of eternal life.
