One of my favorite songs is Sandi Patti and Wayne Watson‘s “Another Time and Another Place.”  This song embodies a believer’s desire to be in that place the Lord has prepared where all the struggles of this life will be gone and eternal peace, divinely provided security and the presence of Jesus will be our experience.  Both of these vocal artists were important to me ‘back in the day’...and I still enjoying revisiting their music!
Today’s reading in Esther (OT) and 1 Corinthians (NT) contained text that caused me to reflect on God’s sovereign control of my time and my place.  Mordecai says to Esther, “...who knows whether you have attained royalty for such a time as this?” (4:14)  Esther’s immediate response is to reject the suggestion to petition the king since it could cost her life!  Yet, she recognizes her life is the Lord’s and He has sovereignly placed her where she is for His purposes.  Where has the Lord placed YOU and what does He expect you to do?
Then Paul states that God “has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired.”  (1 Cor. 12:18)  We have work to do according to how the Lord has placed us.  If He has made me an ‘arm of the body’ then I need to be about the heavy lifting.  If He has made me the ‘feet of the body’ then I must walk the body to those places He calls us to go.  We each have a significant role to fulfill and a job to do.  God has placed me HERE NOW and expects me to faithfully carry out His desire for my life and ministry.  He does not want me to wait until ‘another time and another place’.....where has He placed YOU in the body and what does He expect?
