THE LORD IS GREAT!

Psalm 40:11-17
11: Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord; May your love and faithfulness always protect me.  12: For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me.  13: Be pleased to save me, Lord, to help me.  14: May all who want to take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.  15: May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” be appalled at their own shame.  16: But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The Lord is great!”  17: But as for me, I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; you are my God, do not delay.”

Quite a lot has happened in the past month! I started retaining fluid and when I finally went to the doctor, I had gained 62 pounds in fluid weight. I was referred to another physician who, as soon as he saw me said that I needed to be in the hospital. When I asked when, he said, “Now!” I spent four days there and during that time I lost 47 pounds of that fluid. Needless to say, I was exhausted. In fact, I still am!

During my stay there, I kept thinking about this passage in Psalms 40, specifically verses 16 and 17. “But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The Lord is great!” But as for me, I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; you are my God, do not delay.” And why did this passage come to mind? It was because it was part of my reading for today’s blog. I would say isn’t that a coincidence, but from experience, I know better than that. Our God is in control of all things, at all times. And I for one am so glad He is! “The Lord is great!”
