WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF?

The familiar story of David and Goliath has many applications for todays Christian.  We read in 1 Samuel chapter 17 that Goliath had come forward to taunt the Israelites.  “I defy the ranks of Israel this day; give me a man that we may fight together” (vs 10).  When David came to the battle to bring food to his older brothers and heard the taunts of Goliath against Israel, he said in verse 26, “… For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should taunt the armies of the living God?”

We serve a living God!!! Amen!!!

Verse 11 says that when the armies of Israel heard the taunts of Goliath, they were greatly afraid!  But not David!  He was trusting in the living God and relying on Divine strength!  II Corinthians 10:4 says that the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.  Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”!  Rev 19:6 “Hallelujah!  For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.”!

What are you afraid of today?  Are you relying on your own strength?  Or are you trusting in the one true Living God?

1 Samuel 17:47 “…the LORD does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the LORD’S and He will give you into our hands.”
