FOOLS ARE STUPID

Our Proverb 17:16 is paraphrased “it is senseless to educate a fool because he has no desire for learning.” I mean, we already know it all, right? Know this then, as sinners we have strongholds that we are chained to that give us a consistent response to our traumas in life.  We fall into our sin response and we cannot break free. Only salvation through a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ can break the chains of our strongholds of our sin. So what happens when we ignore our salvation? We are just stupid.
In 1 Kings 20-21 the Lord blesses Israel’s king, an idolater, with military victories. Israel’s enemy, a fool, believed God was a god of territories (hills or plains). He lost several battles because he had no desire to know God. In Acts 12, a sorcerer was blinded by God because he was a fool. He wanted the power of The Holy Spirit only to manipulate the ruler but not to know God.
Where are you? Are you comfortable in your strongholds, your addictions, your hatred? Do you try to define God by putting Him in a box? Do you expect Him to let you keep your strongholds? That is just foolish. We cannot get out of our own chains and we need to.
Let us fall at the foot of the Cross. You are not a fool to desire a transparent relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Cry to the Lord your pain and disappointment like the exiles in Psalm 137. Tell Him your feelings. Seek His healing not for the singular goal of healing but the greater goal of a relationship with Him. Do not try to manipulate others but prayerfully discuss other peoples’ failures to Him, allow Him to judge, while He heals you from your pain and gives you the gift of forgiveness.
I guess we are all born to being fools and stupid, but we are wiser to suffer and then seek Him and experience His comfort - even as we cry in His arms.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding, Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3: 5-6
