CHASING THE WIND
In the Roman’s passage for today it says, “Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin”. So much of what we do in our lives is based on performance: school, work, numerous other things as well. I’m thankful that we don’t become righteous through keeping the laws of scripture. If that were the case, I’d be constantly wondering if I’d done enough to become a righteous person. I’d be trying to continually do things in order to become righteous. There’d always be that question in my mind if I had actually achieved that place. It'd be like chasing the wind though, a fruitless exercise. It would wear you out and for sure make you worry. But we have the assurance that our righteousness has been completed by the shedding of Christ’s blood and our faith in that alone.
