THE SOVEREIGNTY AND OMNIPOTENCE OF GOD

Today's passage in Isaiah (NASB) is a great reminder of who God is, and His active involvement in current events.
43:25 “I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” God forgives the sins of His children, and does not hold them against them.
44:2 “Thus says the Lord who made you and formed you from the womb, who will help you, do not fear.” God makes each one of us for a purpose. He does not want us to fear, because He promises to help us.
44:6 “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides Me.” Our God is the only true God who existed before time and will always exist.
44:8 “Do not tremble and do not be afraid; have I not long since announced it to you and declared it? And you are My witnesses. Is there any God besides Me, or is there any other Rock? I know of none.” Again, we are encouraged to not fear because the only true God is our rock and shelter.
44:18 “They do not know, nor do they understand, for He has smeared over their eyes so that they cannot see and their hearts so that they cannot comprehend.” This was specifically for those who were making man-made idols, but we see a lot of this today as well. Those who do not know God think they are wise, but their wisdom is foolishness, and they can't comprehend the truth.
44:24-26 “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, I, the Lord, am the maker of all things, stretching out the heavens by Myself and spreading out the earth all alone, causing the omens of boasters to fail, making fools out of diviners, causing wise men to draw back and turning their knowledge into foolishness, confirming the word of His servant and performing the purpose of His messengers.” God created all things during the creation week, and is active in our lives before we are born. Those who do not know God boast of their knowledge, but it is actually foolishness. God spoke through the prophets and makes sure their prophesies are all fulfilled.
45:7 “The One forming light and creating darkness, causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the Lord who does all these.” God was the one who created light and darkness. He controls all things that happen, both good things and things that appear to us to be bad. He is all-powerful.
