GOD'S WARNINGS

As I read today's Bible verses from the Old and New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs, I noticed that in each, God was issued warnings to His people. The warnings ranged in scope from Jeremiah's warning to the nation of Judah in Jeremiah 26 to "turn from their evil ways"...so that God might "be able to withhold the disaster He was ready to pour out on them because of their sins" to a warning in Proverbs 25 to "Don't eat too much honey, or it will make you sick!" In 2 Thessalonians 3, Paul advises us to "speak to them as you would a Christian who needs to be warned" referring to those who refuse to obey what he says in his letter. Lastly in today's Psalm 85, the Psalmist says that God "speaks peace to His people....But let them not return to their foolish ways."

There are numerous other examples throughout the Old and New Testaments of God's warnings. I know I have asked myself as I read Old Testament warnings, "Why didn't they listen and heed God's warnings before He poured out his wrath on them?" Often times, they did listen and repented of their evil ways and God spared them and poured out blessings on them. As I read today's Bible verses, I am thankful that God does warn us and is patient with us. May we always be mindful of God's warnings and heed them, so that he might pour down His blessings on us and our land will be filled with His glory.
