OUR MAJESTIC GOD

There are some mountains that I never tire of seeing. Jerry and I spent nine days backpacking around Mt. Rainier a couple years ago, so every time I see Mt. Rainier now, I feel a sense of awe and wonder because I know how amazing the meadows , the lakes, the forests, and the trails on that mountain are. As majestic as that mountain is, it was created by God who is infinitely more majestic than the mountain He created!

Similarly, every time I read Psalm 121, I am overwhelmed by the fact that the very same God who created the majesty of the mountains is also watching over me. I don’t look to the created mountain for help, but to the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Especially during this season of COVID, when many of us are more isolated than normal, it is such a comfort to know that “the one who watches over [me] will not slumber,” (121:3) and this Psalm makes it clear that he watches over me day and night!

May I never be more in awe of the creation I see than the Creator who sees me.

“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” (121:8)
