THE CRY FOR MERCY. THE CRY FOR FORGIVENESS.

Psalm 130:1-8
The psalmist prays to GOD out of deep distress. He is at the depth of despair. He desperately needs to find forgiveness and pardon for his sin. There is an old saying that I like to reflect on quite often that says "sin will take you farther than you want to go, sin will cost you more than you want to pay, sin will keep you longer than you want to stay." Sin will destroy and take away everything that is good and profitable. Sin will cause you deep pain and will result in grief, sadness, and overwhelming guilt. It will cause many to despair even of life itself.

He cries "out of the depths have I cried unto thee, oh Lord: Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If you, Lord, should mark iniquities, oh Lord, who shall stand?" But there is forgiveness with Thee, that you may be feared." What is the answer for the person who is far removed from GOD? The person who is so overwhelmed with the guilt of sin. The answer is there is forgiveness with GOD. There is hope in GOD. Call unto Him. Ask for mercy for He will abundantly pardon.

The Holy Scriptures says in 1st John 1:9 " If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin and unrighteousness. Once we are forgiven we have a deep sense of reverence and fear of GOD. GOD is to be revered. He is to be honored. He is to be feared. GOD is an awesome GOD. He will forgive us if we call on His name and ask for mercy and forgiveness. He will then restore our joy and happiness.

The Holy Scriptures says " I wait for the Lord, and in His word do I hope. If you are struggling with sin, obey the scriptures, 1st Peter 5:7 says " casting all your cares on Him for He cares for you."
