LETTING PEOPLE KNOW YOU BELONG TO CHRIST

The children of Israel had conquered the land that God had given them. Joshua blessed them and sent them to their inheritances with a blessing and a warning. He said in Joshua 22:5,”But be careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to Him, to keep His commands, to hold fast to Him and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

On the way to their homes on the other side of the Jordan River, the 2 ½ tribes set up a monument, like the altar of sacrifice, so that the tribes on the west of the Jordan could never say that they had no share in the Lord their God. Later, in Joshua 24: 26-27, Joshua set up a stone as a witness to the people that they had proclaimed that they would serve the Lord and obey Him.

Jewish people put up a mezuzah on their doorpost of their homes to remind themselves that they have a covenant with God. I know a lot of Christians who put scripture verses on their walls or bumper stickers on their cars as reminders of what Christ has done for them. What could you do to remind yourself, or those around you, that you belong to Christ?
