BLESS THE LORD, OH MY SOUL

Psalm 103 is one of the most loved psalm of all the psalms. It begins with a doxology of praise to GOD for His many gifts to the family of GOD. " Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits." What are the many benefits that have been provided for us? " He forgave us all our iniquities." There is forgiveness with our Father. " He heals all our diseases." If we went no farther in the psalm this would be plenty of reason for us to stop and give thanks to GOD. " He has redeemed our life from destruction." He has extended to us His loving kindness and tender mercy."

GOD extends to us our daily needs. Food to renew our physical needs and renew our strength. " He executes righteousness and justice for those who are oppressed." " He is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, plenteous in mercy." " He has removed our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west." " As high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him." He has compassion toward His children and remembers that we are but dust.

" The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children, to such as keep His covenant, and to those who remember His commandments to do them. His throne is in the heavens and His kingdom rules over all. Bless the Lord, all His works, in all places of His dominion, bless the Lord, oh my soul."

What a psalm. A word of praise to GOD for His many benefits. He provides everything we have need of, spiritually and physically. All praise to His name. Every believer should memorize this psalm and quote it often.
