PROMISES MADE, PROMISES KEPT!
Psalm 105 has always been a favorite of mine. The Psalmist points out promises that God had made to His nation, Israel. But not only that, he emphasizes that God kept those promises. Promises made, promises kept. We can rest in His promises knowing that He will keep them. As it says in verse 1, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done.” In verse 3 we are to, “Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments He pronounced,” then in verse 7, “He is the Lord our God, His judgments are in all the earth. He remembers His covenant forever, the word He commanded, for a thousand generations.” God promised, He remembered His promises, and He kept His promises, “that they might keep His precepts and observe His laws.”
I have always believed that God intended our Christian walk to be a simple one. If He had not done so, I for one could get lost in the weeds. He has given us His word, told us what to expect, and what will happen. He has given us a blueprint to live by and made numerous promises if we but follow His directions. And, He kept it simple!
Throughout scripture we see the promises He made and the promises He kept. And we also see the promises He has made and the fulfillment of the promises is yet to come. But we have a record of His keeping His promises and that He remembers them forever, even for a thousand generations! We can rest comfortably knowing that He will keep His promises to us. Promises made, promises kept! Bless His Holy Name!
