STAND FAST AND PRAY
The Bible readings for today are from 2 Kings, Isaiah and 2 Chronicles and deal with a time of great threats to God’s people. These words are encouraging for us today even over two thousand years later. The King of Assyria was conquering all nations that stood between him and Jerusalem. In spite of this great threat, the Lord saved the people of Jerusalem. King Hezekiah and Isaiah the Prophet prayed for help and God sent an angel to destroy the Assyrian army and forced them to return to their own land. The Assyrian King was killed by his own sons, and in time, the entire Assyrian nation was destroyed. This is an example of God’s answer to prayer for His people and how Christians today need to pray and keep the faith even in these troubling times when no solution or help seems to be in sight.
