OVER ALL THESE, PUT ON LOVE

A couple of things stood out to me from these verses. We are God’s chosen people, and we need to act like it. We need to be different than how the world around us acts. How do we act like chosen people? Clothe yourself with compassion, or love your neighbor as you love yourself. How do you love yourself? You take care of yourself by feeding your body, giving it exercise or rest, going to the doctor or dentist when necessary. If we treated our neighbors like this, making sure they had food, shelter, access to doctors, etc. our society would be in a lot better shape than it is today.

Forgive as the Lord has forgiven you. How did Jesus forgive you? He forgave totally. We need to show compassion and forgiveness in abundant measure as Christ would. The only stipulation that Jesus put on his forgiveness was to come to him. We should not put any conditions on our forgiveness either. If we don’t forgive, we become a prisoner of it. Verse 14, “And over all these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
