ALL THINGS NEW
Revelation 19:1-22:21
Reading through today’s passage, I’m reminded of the first time the four Pevensie children hear the name of Aslan in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe: “At the name of Aslan each one of the children felt something jump in its inside … Lucy got the feeling you have when you wake up in the morning and realize that it is the beginning of the holidays or the beginning of summer.”
It’s hard to read Christ’s description (21:11-16) without having that same leap for joy in your own heart. IT’S HIM! The one who bought us with His own blood, who brought us into His everlasting kingdom. The one who is Faithful and True, who will understand completely and will be completely just in His judgements. The one who is making all things new (22:5), and will dwell with His people forever (22:3). Amen and come quickly, Lord!
As we look forward to the New Year, let us allow this eternal perspective to re-center each day. As followers of Christ our past is forgiven, our future is certain, and our work is not in vain (1 Cor. 15:58). Let God find us faithful!
