GIFTS OF GOD

The writer approaches two thoughts of the Old Testament and the New Testament. When we look at the Old Testament, it is the law laid down to show men what is good and evil. No man could live without sin, and so man had to have sacrifices that he would offer up year after year. If these sacrifices had completely cleansed their sins, there would be no point for Jesus to die for our sins. We know this isn’t true because the blood of animals can not take away sin.

In the New Testament, we are now living under grace, given to us by the blood of Christ on the cross. Jesus is the only sacrifice God accepts as payment for our sins. This free gift is ours, in so long as we accept it and proclaim Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

If we still live according to the law, we would still have the consequences of our sins. For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. When Christ came down and became flesh, He brought two great gifts to mankind: One, He died on the cross and shed His blood so that any person that accepts Him as their Lord and Savior will have Eternal Life in Heaven. Two, He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within all believers. These truths are for all mankind, both Jews and Gentiles.
