IRON SHARPENS IRON
Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
People very often like to be independent, to depend on themselves. If something needs to be done, better to do it yourself and not have to involve others for whatever reason-not wanting to bother someone else or maybe to have the satisfaction of having done something on your own.
Do we struggle as Christians with sin in our life? Absolutely. How do we often handle it. We pray to the Lord and ask Him to forgive us and help us overcome and conquer what we are dealing with. Then we go out and try to accomplish this on our own. Do we look to others, maybe a trusted Christian friend to stand with us as we struggle with something?
Why not confide in a trusted Christian friend to stand with us as we struggle with something? For me, I don’t want to because I might think my friend will see me in a bad light or think less of me as a Christian or I might be embarrassed of my sin. It tells us in James to confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so you may be healed. This can be a great way to deal with our sin by being held accountable to another Christian that will pray for us, stand with us and encourage us in our walk.
